The Hyundai Kona is set for a redesign

Hyundai has announced a brand new redesign for the 2023 Hyundai Kona, scaling up the size of this compact SUV and placing emphasis on electric design. Set to launch in 2023, the Kona is being built on Hyundai's new K3 platform and offers a variety of powertrains. 

Beyond this, there has been a complete restyling with the new Hyundai Kona, creating a modern and streamlined aesthetic. Complete with a seamless horizon lamp and a tec-centric interior, it's clear that the new iteration of the Kona draws some inspiration from the award-wining IONIQ 5...which certainly isn't a bad thing.

• Growing in size and ambition

  As mentioned previously, the new Kona comes with an increase in size. This takes the dimensions up to 4,355 mm in length, which is 150mm longer than the last version. In addition, a respectable 60mm growth in wheelbase length and a 25mm gain in width. Whilst, this may not be a highly significant size change, and still ensures the Kona is a compact SUV, the extra room is certain to come into practical use. 

  Beyond the physical growth of the model, the Kona certainly showcases a sizeable ambition from Hyundai. After seeing great success with its current flagship model the IONIQ 5, Hyundai are poised for an exciting year with the release of the IONIQ 6 and the now the new Kona. 

  This heightened ambition is showcased throughout the design, including an interior which is gifted with a great range of technology and comfort. Including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen completing the centre console and a high-quality, executive-feeling finish. 

   

• Derivatives of the new Kona

  The Kona will be able to be purchased in 4 distinct derivatives. Including an electric vehicle, petrol, hybrid and the sporty N-line edition.

  Each derivative will vary slightly in styling, to make each version as unique as the system powering it. The petrol engine and Hybrid models both feature black wheel arch cladding, as well as a bold bumper and skid plate design. Whereas the N-Line Kona embraces a more sporty feel, featuring bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels, twin exhausts, assertive front a rear design and silver side skirts.

  The electric version will boast pixel graphic details on the intake grille and rear bumper, a 19-inch alloy wheel design and a black embracing line. Not much further is known about the details of the new Kona but it's safe to say we're excited when they land in our showrooms next year.
