A PARLIAMENTARY candidate has talked up electric vehicles. Sarah Yapp, the Green Party's candidate for Rayleigh and Wickford, has been loaned an electric car from Toomeys, in Cherry Orchard Way, Rochford, for her election campaign. The Nissan Leaf is 100 per cent carbon emission free, and costs 2p per mile in electricity. Mrs Yapp said: “I am promoting an economically and ecologically better way of living. The Green Party promotes progressive alternatives to our current transport system. Technology is improving so much that we can move away from a polluting oil-based economy much faster, when people realise they can vote for positive alternatives."
Tory Mark Francois, Labour's David Hough, Ukip's John Hayter and Independent Linda Kendall are all also standing.
